For some reason, I am obsessed with wanting to learn German. My friend’s boy friend gave me German books. He told me to join this website called conversationexchange.com to practice with other people. It’s hard to practice when you don’t know any German. But I did become a pen-pal kind of thing with a guy who speaks German and wants to learn English. He’s been to Miami…I feel like every European that travels to Florida goes to Miami. I don’t really think I’m the best person to help someone learn English but I like chatting. Maybe during summer I can actually talk to some French and German people. Improve my conversation skills. The German guy’s name is Christian. He sent me a sentence to translate and I didn’t cheat! I couldn’t get all of it though. I’ll write the sentence and change it to my answers here.

Ich heiße Jennifer und bin 20 Jahre alt. Ich wohne in Tallahassee {und studiere dort.} that was the part I didn’t know.

I went to Border’s today and was perusing a German Made Simple book. I want it. I think it would help a lot. But it’s study time and I can buy it in the Villages.

I have lots of goals for summer. P90x to get in fabulous shape. Tan. GRE! and a good score! and German. Also, to have fun. I want to travel and a little and see friends. But mostly, I’ll be getting some me things done. Yay!

I still don’t have too much to say. :] But i wanted to write a new blog on my mac! When I looked at Macs before I thought the casing was pretty and they were so skinny but I didn’t like OS or how the internet was all gray tabbed and blah. But once you actually own a Mac it’s not even important! I love it all even if it is just gray and not pretty blue. I’m definitely satisfied with my purchase!

Just one of those days

So I’m minding my own business walking through the lot by Starbucks and this kid stops me to ask me a question. I stop because how am i supposed to know he’s gonna talk to me for 5+ minutes. I don’t remember all details but i’ll try to remember as much as possible.

Him: Would you date a guy that listened to Disney music?

Me: Yeah, I like Disney

Him: Really? Weird…

(then proceeds to tell me this story about his friend that met this guy on facebook and he wanted to take her out to dinner. He was all tattooed and picked her up in a big truck that was some weird color. But dinner was awkward so she wanted to go home. They drove past a cemetery and he put on the Lion King! And he mentioned Elton John too. I told him about my friend who listens to Lion King and stuff and is cool (Zach)

Him: Like, is that supposed to turn someone on?

Me: Idk. I guess it is kinda weird since the whole night was awkward. (personally, id love it lol minus awkwardness) So he talks about how its something to ponder lol Then he brings up Sig Delt because i’m wearing my eat sweatshirt. He met a black haired girl in tap class..(now i wonder why he was in tap) and she was wearing the sweatshirt or writing about sig delt somewhere. He learned about our philanthropy and thought it was cool that it was have your cake and eat it too. lol and i was like yeah i call it my eat sweatshirt. Supposedly, the sister has the sweatpants and says like Eat Ass or something lol and he thought that was funny and how everytime he sees our letters he thinks of Eat not Sigma Delta Tau. Then he proceeds to ask if we eat a lot of chicken. I laugh but im still a little weirded out. He had gone to every house once between the hour of 11 and 12 to make an announcement and everyone was talking about chicken and how they eat it a lot. So i said yeah, we do eat it a lot but we didnt today…or yesterday. And how people complain about red meat and fish. He said something about stinky vegetarians. He then asks where I’m going so i said home and how i lived in the house. So he walks with me even though he had been going the totally opposite direction! He tells me how hes not a freshman anymore or something and how he lived in Osceola Hall. And they could eat anything fried in their cafeteria there. But he thinks it closed because its uninhabitable or something. So i was thats cool. But then he got fat so he went on the subway diet. But he’d only eat meatball subs so he was still fat. (no, hes not a fat ginger, he was skinny) One funny thing he said. It’s not Eat Fresh it’s Eat Fat. And i said i don’t eat at subway.

Him: Do you only eat at ritzy restaurants?

Me: No, i eat at Quiznos. (he thinks thats ritzy lol)

Him: Have you seen the free smells at Jimmy Johns Me: I have no idea what those are…but wait ive seen the billboard thing He doesn’t know what they are either and was hoping i had the answer lol He finally asks what my name is. I say Jenn and we shake hands and he says i have a medium something grip…idk lol.

Him: Are you a people person?

Me: Sometimes

Him: I could see you being half and half. Do you want to work in an office when you graduate? What are you going to do when you’re done?

Me: Therapist. I guess that’s in an office.

(Meanwhile, we are covering the distance to Starbucks and i’m wondering how much longer he’ll be walking with me) He doesn’t really understand the therapist concept and asks if its a doctor and i said no no doctorate. He said he wasn’t feeling the doctor thing. Whatever lol His major is Marketing so he asks if he looks like a marketing major and i say no haha but i don’t know what they look like and he doesn’t either. He tells me that he doesn’t really hang out with his classmates and that he comes to university to do work. cool…

Him: So Jenn, Would you ever want to get coffee sometime?

Me: I don’t know.

Him: You don’t know?

Me: You’re kind of random. I just met you on the street and i don’t know your name

Him: I just told you my name

Me: no, you didn’t.

Him: I’m Jared. (i think we shake hands again…im not sure but I think he realizes that I’m not going to get coffee with him)

Him: Well if we ever see each other again, say hi.

Me: Okay, it was nice meeting you

Him: Nice meeting you too

So i walk away. lol He knows my first name and where I reside so he could easily find me lol Overall a very odd experience. All because he wanted to get my opinion on awkward guys that listen to Lion King. I wanted to lie and say I was seeing someone but I don’t think I could’ve passed that one off. And if he was cute, I think I would’ve been more inclined to say yes. Instead, he was a ginger hahaha. And, I was a little more involved in the conversation, I wasn’t acting cold or anything.

Valentine’s Day

I had a really great Valentine’s Day! First without Thomas since before my senior year. I slept in til 11:45 which was nice and went to Chili’s with Dani for lunch around 12:30. I hung out at home and went to the gym with Sarah. Then at night we went and saw Valentine’s Day the movie! So cute!! It didn’t get good reviews but I loved it. Several parts of the movie made me tear up and the relationships were just adorable. It made me wish I had a boyfriend or a boy friend. Either or. Just someone to tell about my day and watch a movie with and be all cute. To do romantic things for me. I’m not always like this because sometimes I’m cold as ice and don’t care about having someone. But at those times when I soften up, having someone wouldn’t be so bad. But i’m willing to wait until I find someone really great that I like a lot. Someone that deserves me!! Hmm…hopefully soon!

Kandace’s Birthday

Well I’m sitting at Kandace’s birthday. I’m the only one not drinking and that gives me chances to observe those who are drinking. And I’m currently bothered. It’s Kandace’s birthday and she put on George Michael. Then these two girls were talking about music and they put on All Time Low after only one GM song. That isn’t nice. Kandace doesn’t even listen to this kind of music. Of course kandace doesn’t notice too much but I still think its something they shouldn’t have done. So I’m thoroughly annoyed. Who cares if no one else likes george michael. No one wants to listen to this either. I’m changing it!

Hmm. Now its 11. Megan just went to bed. Alicia and kandace and megan were pretty drunk. And loud but that’s okay since it was Kandace’s birthday. Its weird only having several drunkies. I have to keep this in mind.

Earlier, megan was showing logan her wedding book and it makes me want to get married. Then I think of the fact that I don’t even have someone to consider marrying. Its still a weird concept for me that I don’t have that guy to turn to right now. I don’t hang out with too many either. Hopefully soon I find someone great

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I guess my life might be a little more fulfilled now so my mind has been on other things. That and I’ve been sick since Sunday. Grandma asked me over break “what good is knowing stuff about movies?” or something along those lines…don’t argue Grandma you do find that knowledge to be pointless. But last night, a friend posted a link to www.mentalfloss.com it seemed interesting so i looked! It’s a blog with a tagline: Where Knowledge Junkies get their fix! Perfect! So now, I’ve been finding out random facts like the golf course one I posted on Grandma’s wall. And 5 things that people invented that are just stupid tricks for us to spend money…like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Valentine’s Day Candy! Also, I read about Olympians who are the only ones competing from their country in the winter games because they don’t even have winter sports where they are from: Morocco, Jamaica, etc. Kudos to them for finding ways to do what they love even without proper funding! Really cool. It’s like how I’ll still finish school even though I don’t have all that much. But thats what makes me who I am and causes me to work hard!

I can’t wait til Spring Break either. I just want to see the family and have Dani in the Villages! My first friend besides Rachel…and Thomas. Okay so not first friend. It should be fun though!

La Vie en Rose

The other day, I watched the wonderful film “La Vie En Rose”. It’s the story of famous french singer Edith Piaf. She’s amazing. The story of her life was so devastating though, the movie almost brought me to tears. She lived in a brothel during her childhood then traveled with her dad in the circus. In her teens, she lived by singing on the streets to get money instead of being a prostitute. Finally, she got a big break but there was always heartbreak around the corner for her. So sad. The man who helped her get her start was murdered, her mother was a crazy drunk, the love of her life died in a plane crash while on the way to see her. She died of liver problems at the age of 47 but she looked so old then. It was truly awful to see her then and so sad. Some of her last concerts were at the Olympia and that’s where I saw Lady Gaga. I wish I had known more about Edith Piaf then so I could’ve thought more about her while I was there. I also saw her grave in Pere Lachaise. She was buried next to her daughter that died of meningitis at the age of 2. Ever since watching the movie I’ve been obsessed with her music.

Her songs are so passionate and rightfully so with the life she had. Even though they are in french and I can’t understand everything they are still moving. Very romantic and they make me want to dance with someone and be in love. Or cry. Hopefully, when I do find the man for me they will dance with me to her songs. Maybe even a good wedding song could be picked from her music. Good to keep in mind. I just want everyone to love her like me. Music can really touch the soul, that’s why I love it so much.

I’ve Got A Feeling

So, i’ve been feeling kind of unsatisfied these last few days after Grandma said some things and I examined the things I do on a daily basis and frankly, it isn’t much. I wake up, eat breakfast (I’ve been eating breakfast every day to lead a healthier life) go to class, eat lunch, more class, waste time in lab, and watch lots of movies. Of course, I go to the gym a lot too. I did research and exercise is actually a hobby. So lucky me I go 4-6 days a week since the start of the semester. Gotta keep in shape :] even though people always tell me that i’m so skinny. Its my body not theres! But back to what this post is about, I don’t do much. I go through the day and i dread the fact that when night rolls around I’ll probably be in my room just watching a movie. Last night, I did something different! Well, the scene wasn’t too different because I do go out from time to time. I just don’t prefer going out where I have to pay or when it’s cold outside…both of which happened last night.

When the prospect of going out comes around I usually make excuses for why I can’t go. I had already planned on it last night but as soon as I walked in the door Carly tells me “Go Shower! and start getting ready!”…I could find no way out of that one. I’m not a big NO person! :] So I did what she said. I was a little nervous because I don’t usually hang out with Carly outside of the room and several of my friends were going to another bar. Different crowd. So I was going out to Pots (a place I don’t regularly go to) with people I don’t regularly hang out with to a place where I’d meet more people. Nerveracking to say the least. But I didn’t want to sit around so I went. It was a lot of fun, I met lots of new guys who are in AEPi (the Jewish fraternity) and Carly made sure I was having a good time. And when I got back to my house, this freshman I met (I can’t escape the youngins!) took me to Whataburger and paid! cute. Yeah, so overall it was a great night and i’m really happy I didn’t just make the same ol’ excuses and stay inside. The guy I’m taking to the date function was gonna come but he didn’t and now I’m glad he didn’t because I wouldnt’ve met all the new people! And hanging out with sisters I don’t usually hang out with was nice too. Bonding :]

The point of this is that today I feel happier in a way so I think going out helped.

I know this post isn’t about books or movies but I have one of those in drafts. It will come soon!
